Getting Started With Naturopathic Medicine

If you’ve never experienced naturopathic medicine before, you might not know what to expect. That’s okay – there’s a first time for everything, after all.

That’s what this page is for. Keep reading to find out more about what working with Dr. Simona can look like.

How To Prepare For A Naturopathic Appointment

Before you come to visit Dr. Simona, take some time to consider some of the health issues and concerns you’ve been facing recently. These can be minor annoyances like, for example, feeling a little dizzy when you stand up after long periods of sitting, or significant issues like chronic pain or an illness you’ve been diagnosed with.

Having a list of the health concerns you have will help Dr. Simona put together a treatment plan that fits your unique needs.

You should also print and fill out a patient intake form prior to arriving – this will make the process quicker. If you don’t have access to a printer, no problem, but please show up at least 20 minutes prior to your appointment to fill one out here.

If you have any recent lab tissue analysis or imaging (MRI, CT, ultrasound) tests completed, please ask your doctor to forward them to us as well

What To Expect At Your First Visit

Your first appointment with Dr. Simona is usually the longest. That’s because it takes time to fully explore your health history.

This appointment can take 60-90 minutes, during which Dr. Simona will ask you a number of different questions about your health, taking detailed notes on your current and past health concerns.

She will also perform a physical examination and suggest some laboratory tests be performed to help assess your current state of health and diagnose any illnesses you may be dealing with.

From there, you’ll discuss the next steps to address your health concerns, which may include dietary and lifestyle changes, follow-up appointments with other naturopathic treatments, and additional functional medicine testing.

During this whole process, Dr. Simona will be patient, kind, understanding, and respectful of your needs and limitations. The goal is to make you feel as comfortable as possible with the process and with naturopathic medicine.

Follow-Up Visits

After your first visit, you’ll be given some homework, mostly in the form of lab tests. Once you get the lab work completed, you may need to request that your family doctor forward it to Dr. Simona.

Your first follow up will involve a review of your lab results and how you’ve been doing with the dietary and lifestyle changes suggested during your first visit.

From there, Dr. Simona will have assembled a detailed treatment plan for you, which may include one or more of the following:

  • Acupuncture
  • A nutritional supplement regime
  • Homeopathic remedies
  • Intravenous/intramuscular injection therapy
  • Dietary changes
  • Lifestyle changes
  • Additional testing
